Hexham Rowing Regatta

Hexham Regatta is one of the UK's most popular rowing events and trhe largest one day regatta in the UK.  In 2009 over 1,200 competitors and around 2000 visitors are expected.

The event takes place on the river tyne at Hexham in rural Northumberland.  A stretch of river widely recognised as one of the best for rowing in the North - and now the best salmon river in England.

This year the main event sponsor is Northern Rail, the UK's largest rail network, and we thank them for their valued support.

The event is organised by Hexham RC, a club with a long and proud heritage.  Founded in 1878, the club's original name was the Hexham and Ebchester Rowing and Swimming Club. Today the Club offers both rowing and sculling and is affiliated to the Northern Region of the Amateur Rowing Association.

Our most famous members were Jack Hopper and Jack Dodds, who raced at National Level in the late 19th/early 20th centuries and currently we have one member who won a GB schoolboy vest.
